　　President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening of the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations. With the theme of "Exchanges and mutual learning among Asian civilizations and a community with a shared future," the conference aims to deepen cooperation among Asian countries.

　　Our vast and fertile plains, beautiful river basins, large steppes, immense deserts, mighty rivers and oceans, and lofty mountains have nourished and enriched diverse and colorful civilizations across Asia.

　　2.沒有和平，沖突不斷甚至戰(zhàn)火紛飛，經(jīng)濟(jì)增長、民生改善、社會穩(wěn)定、人民往來等都會淪為空談。

　　When peace is interrupted by conflicts or war, economic growth, decent lives, social stability and people-to-people exchanges will all be out of the question.

　　3.希望各國互尊互信、和睦相處，廣泛開展跨國界、跨時空、跨文明的交往活動，共同維護(hù)比金子還珍貴的和平時光。

　　We hope that all countries will respect and trust each other, live in harmony, and interact with each other in a manner that transcends national boundaries, time and space as well as the differences between civilizations. We should work together to safeguard peace, as that is something even more precious than gold.

　　4.如果各國重新回到一個個自我封閉的孤島，人類文明就將因老死不相往來而喪失生機(jī)活力。

　　If countries choose to close their doors and hide behind them, human civilizations would be cut off from each other and lose all vitality.

　　5.人類只有膚色語言之別，文明只有姹紫嫣紅之別，但絕無高低優(yōu)劣之分。

　　Civilizations only vary as the same way human beings differ in skin color and languages they use. No civilization is superior to others.

　　6.認(rèn)為自己的人種和文明高人一等，執(zhí)意改造甚至取代其他文明，在認(rèn)識上是愚蠢的，在做法上是災(zāi)難性的！如果人類文明變得只有一個色調(diào)、一個模式了，那這個世界就太單調(diào)了，也太無趣了！

　　It is foolish to believe that one's race and civilization are superior to others, and it is disastrous to willfully reshape or even replace other civilizations. If human civilizations are reduced to one single color, or one single model, the world would become a stereotype, and too dull a place to live in.

　　7.人們對美好事物的向往，是任何力量都無法阻擋的！

　　The aspiration to all that is beautiful is a common pursuit of humanity that nothing can hold back.

　　8.各種文明本沒有沖突，只是要有欣賞所有文明之美的眼睛。

　　There would be no clash of civilizations as long as people are able to appreciate the beauty of them all.

　　9.一切生命有機(jī)體都需要新陳代謝，否則生命就會停止。文明也是一樣，如果長期自我封閉，必將走向衰落。

　　All living organisms in the human body must renew themselves through metabolism. Otherwise life comes to an end. The same is true for civilizations. Long-term self-isolation will cause a civilization to decline. 

　　10.文明交流互鑒應(yīng)該是對等的、平等的，應(yīng)該是多元的、多向的，而不應(yīng)該是強(qiáng)制的、強(qiáng)迫的，不應(yīng)該是單一的、單向的。

　　Exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations should be reciprocal, on equal footing, diverse and multidimensional. They should not be coerced, imposed, one-dimensional or one-way. 

　　11.親仁善鄰、協(xié)和萬邦是中華文明一貫的處世之道，惠民利民、安民富民是中華文明鮮明的價值導(dǎo)向，革故鼎新、與時俱進(jìn)是中華文明永恒的精神氣質(zhì)，道法自然、天人合一是中華文明內(nèi)在的生存理念。

　　Seeking goodwill with neighbors and harmony with all nations is the Chinese way of engaging with the world. Benefiting the people and providing them with stability and prosperity are the distinctive value of Chinese civilization. Keeping reforming and innovating, and advancing with the times are the unchanged spirit of Chinese civilization. Following the rules of nature and uniting human and universe are the philosophy of existence for Chinese civilization.

　　12.今日之中國，不僅是中國之中國，而且是亞洲之中國、世界之中國。

　　China today is more than the country itself. It is very much a part of Asia and the world.
